Maury River Mission Community Youth Rally

Bring 3 or more canned food items that will be donated to Rockbridge Area Relief Association food bank. RSVP by May 12 to Olivia if you are coming!

Congregational Dinner - Gifts & Talents Auction

On Thursday, 22 May, the congregational dinner will feature a "Gifts and Talents" auction to benefit the summer youth mission trip. Supper will begin at 5:45. Cost for the meal will be $6 per person, $20 maximum per family. Everyone is invited to attend. We hope you will make an offer on our auction items in support of our youth mission activities. There will be both a silent auction and a live one led by Buddy Bryan, Joe Irby and Frank Friedman. We will provide child care, if needed.

If you have a gift or talent you can auction or other auctionable items, please fill out one of the forms found in the friendship pads in the pews. You can leave these in the offering plates or turn them in to Olivia.

Please come out to enjoy barbeque and support our youth.

Vacation Bible School

Mark the week of August 4 - 8, 2008 on your calendars for Vacation Bible School!  The theme is "Beach Party: Surfin' Through the Scriptures."

As a celebration of God's love the children will learn the Beach Be-attitudes: Be Obedient, Be Kind, Be Forgiving, Be Bold and Believe! The Scripture emphasized throughout the week is 1 John 3:18, "Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action."

We ask that you help us create a meaningful and memorable week for the children by helping to organize, decorate, teach and shepherd for VBS. Please contact Olivia to get on board. Surf's up!

We will need beach items for decoration for VBS this year. If you can loan us beach chairs, towels, sand pails, surf boards, beach umbrellas, life preservers, boogie boards, etc., we will be most thankful. Make sure to label anything you might bring in. For now, just begin thinking of what you have. We won't really begin to gather items until sometime in July.

Teacher Workshop

There will be a teacher's workshop on a date to be determined in August. The theme will be "The Inviting Classroom."

All are welcome to attend the classes, and we are hoping many of you who already teach or are thinking of teaching will look to these sessions as affirmation and support for the work that you do for the church.
